12th-Aug-2010 04:29 pm - Four Additional Cigarette Brands
TS3 - Jacob - Smoking

B (and a couple others) on MS3B mentioned a couple brands of cigs they'd like to see in their game, so I added them. I also added two vintage packs, one because I thought it was pretty and the other because it reminds me of Mad Men.

Installation: Let the three files in the rar overwrite the originals. You'll then have the four additional brands to throw wildly around your sims' house.

Do whatever you want with these as long as you're not claiming you made them or putting them on paysites of any kind. As with the originals, these are master/slaved, so you cannot have a slave file without the master file.

11th-Aug-2010 08:48 pm - Diva - Three Hair Retextures
Jonathan | sway through the crowds

I like consistant hair textures in my game, and since I've been using Aikea's default replacements, I thought I'd do some retexturing of a few custom hairs that I've been wanting to download. The three hairs I've done are: Peggy5626, fixed by Anubis360 (since the child & toddler hair are linked to the adult mesh textures, my retexture will show up for those if you download them from Anubis's LiveJournal), Rose06 (female, teen through elder only), and NewSea's Moonriver (female, teen through elder only - Booty).

None of the original meshes are required for these retextures; all I've done is replace the textures, so you can only choose one version to use. All mesh and/or conversion credit belongs to the original creators. Credit for the gorgeous textures goes to Aikea, and also letting me use a couple of her sims.

Enjoy!

11th-Aug-2010 12:21 pm - Chain Smoker - Smoking Clutter
TS3 - Jacob - Smirk

I don't smoke, mostly because I cannot stand the way it smells (which is part of why I'm glad I never got around to smoking clove cigs in high school; I actually love the way those smell, and I'm sure I'd be hooked on them now). I still desperately needed cigarettes and their related clutter for one of my boys who's completely addicted to nicotine, so back in TS2 I created this set (it's on GoS somewhere). Since I've been playing TS3 again recently, I realized how much I missed it, so I spent the last two/two and a half days converting it.

All items are found under Decorative - Misc. The matches cost 2 simoleons and have six designs to choose from, the lighter costs 3 simoleons and has three designs and one castable variation, the cigs cost 7 simoleons and have two designs on six different meshes, and the ashtrays cost 12 simoleons and have four designs and one castable variation on four different meshes.

Do whatever you want with these as long as you're not claiming you made them or putting them on paysites of any kind. These are master/slaved, so you cannot have a slave file without the master file.

Edit: These now include four addtional brands of cigarettes not shown in this post. Please see this post for in-game pics.

TS3 - Jacob - Frown

Just a preview of something I've been working on the last couple of days. I'm being crazy-picky about these, which is what's taking so long. I'm nearly done, however, just not nearly done enough to forego a WIP pic.

I need to do some mesh tweaking (a couple of them seem to want to sink into surfaces), and finish up a lighter, then I'll be releasing them. Probably won't be more than a day or two.

Blah blah blah.
9th-Aug-2010 05:07 pm - TS2 - Schizophrenic Artwork
Jacob - My Head Is Reeling

These are the TS2 versions of the schizophrenic artwork I recently released. (Once again, I was struggling to remember how to make recolors of things in TS2.) They'll be found with the other paper meshes/recolors, which are under 'Decorative -- Misc.'

If you want to see what these look like individually and a bit bigger, go here. Those are the TS3 versions, but they were made with the exact same images. I didn't take bigger pictures of the TS2 versions because I forgot to install a screencap program that works with Windows 7, and I don't have the patience to sit through TS2 loading times more than once. Also, I was panicking a bit. Sorry. :X

[personal profile] gelydh converted these pills by Nixy many moons ago. I'm posting them because she keeps forgetting to release them. There are three variations of the mesh.

Found under Decorative - Misc. I have no idea how much they cost, but not a whole lot.

Do whatever you want with these as long as you're not claiming you made them or putting it on paysites of any kind. Original mesh and textures by Nixy.

6th-Aug-2010 03:43 pm - Paper Mesh with Six Schizophrenic Artworks
TS3 - Jacob - Growl

This is a new paper mesh, very much like the one I did for TS2 but with fresh, new textures. (One of the things I love about TS3 is the ability to rotate through 360 degrees without any sort of outside files, so I only needed to make the single mesh.) This set features artwork by schizophrenics, which I've had saved for... a very long time, actually.

I need these for TS2, so look for those to be released soon.

Found under Decorative - Misc, and cost 3 simoleons. Six designs in one file.

5th-Aug-2010 06:18 pm - Hanging Around - Half-Height Wall Writing Mesh: Signs
TS3 - Jacob - Robot

This is a half-height wall writing mesh, made to be used with Late Night's wall-hanging-shifting-up-and-down feature. Not sure if it works yet (because obviously the EP hasn't been released yet), but hopefully it will.

Found under Decorative - Wall Hangings, and cost 3 simoleons. Six designs in one file.

I'm watching from above, I love it but it's not for me. )

These are multi-layerable with the 'moveobjects on' cheat, but as they're cloned from an actual painting they can only be shifted left and right in half-tile increments. As you can see from the title image, this isn't a huge deal.

Do whatever you want with this as long as you're not claiming you made it or putting it on paysites of any kind. The filters that I use give me an an excuse. I take away what's real, I feel it and it blows my fuse.

29th-Jul-2010 08:26 pm - PSA Regarding Wall-Writing Mesh
TS3 - Aikea Distressed
Apparently in the next EP (which looks fanfuckingtastic), we'll have the ability to move objects up and down on the wall (among many other things). I just want to let everyone know that I'm going to be updating my wall writing mesh so it will be compatible with this.

Until I get the mesh updated, I suggest you don't clone it to make recolors of, as your clone won't be able to move up and down on the wall when the EP comes out. (And why I didn't think to make it like that in the first place to avoid the same thing I had happening in TS2 is beyond me.) Of course, I won't be able to tell if my changes will have any affect until the EP actually comes out, but it'll be a start at least.

This will only affect the half-sized mesh, as the full-size one more likely than not won't be able to be shifted up and down anyway.

It shouldn't take me very long to fix this, so... something.

Edit: This is the part where I realize I never actually made a half-height version of this mesh for TS3. So... go ahead and keep recoloring the full height version, because it won't shift anyway. I'll be making a half-height version soon, and we can all go on pretending I have any idea what I'm doing.
7th-Jul-2010 08:46 pm - tutorial - making master/slave files for TS3
TS3 - Jacob - Computer
Back in TS2, it was possible to have a set of meshes where one of them held a texture that the others all used. This cut down on file sizes and made recoloring all that more straight-forward. I'm not sure how recoloring will work with the TS3 method I've worked out here, but it definitely cuts down on file sizes. I looked everywhere trying to find information about this, but couldn't find anything. I managed to work it out after a happy accident earlier today and thought maybe the information could prove useful to someone else.

This tutorial won't teach you anything at all about actually making objects; you'll have to find other tutorials for that. You should be fairly comfortable with making objects using S3PE and S3OC as I couldn't begin to tell you how to go about this with TSRW (though apparently it's possible).

Making Master/Slave Files for TS3 )

Now, like I said, I really don't know how recolors would work with this. I imagine you'd have to do something horrible like clone all the meshes, just given the way recolors work in general in TS3.

Anyway, hope it's useful.
